With what computer operating systems is TimeClockpro compatible?

TimeClockpro is one of the few time clock solutions that works with both Windows (7, Vista, XP) and Macs, including with both on the same network, seamlessly and simultaneously.

Can employees clock in and out from their own workstation?

The Network Edition and TimeClockpro Cloud Service allow employees to clock in and out on their own workstation or designated workstations.  The Kiosk Edition is designed to be installed on one computer at which all employees clock in and out.

Yes, your employees can use the web browser on their iPhone or Droid if you're using TimeClockpro Cloud Service or if you host TimeClockpro Network Edition on your server with an external/public IP address.

The Kiosk Edition is designed for businesses that prefer to have all employees clock in and out on one workstation set up specifically as a clock in/out station, rather than having employees clock in and out on their own workstation.  The Network Edition allows employees to clock in and out at their own workstation or on multiple designated workstations.

No. Employees can only view their own timecard using their confidential PIN.

Can I determine the payroll period?

Yes. You can set which day of the week your payroll periods begin (e.g. Sunday through Saturday; Monday through Sunday; Tuesday through Monday; etc.).

Does TimeClockpro calculate overtime?

Yes. TimeClockpro calculates and displays Overtime as well as Regular, Vacation, Sick Leave, Holiday and Total Hours on timecards and all payroll reports.

Does TimeClockpro provide a way for me to backup our time clock data?

Yes, you can backup your time clock data as often as you like by clicking the "Backup" button on the Admin Menu screen. You can also save as many archive copies of your time clock data as you like by appending the backup file name with, for example, the date when the backup was made. With TimeClockpro Cloud Service, Affinity Software automatically backups your time clock data daily.

I downloaded the Network Edition, but when I try to open it, it tells me to choose an application. What's up?

The Network Edition uses FileMaker software (a powerful and flexible database application) to host TimeClockpro to make it available over your network to multiple workstations and/or the Internet. You can download free 30-day trial copies of FileMaker software (http://filemaker.com) to try the Network Edition in Free Trial mode.  When you make your TimeClockpro Network Edition (for Small or Large Business) Affinity Software will provide the FileMaker software you need.

When I purchase a Kiosk or Network Edition of TimeClockpro, will you send me the software on a disk?

No. You download the actual, fully functional TimeClockpro software directly from our website.   When you purchase, we will email you a License Key that you'll enter in the software to be able continue using it after the 30-day Free Trial.

Can I add more employees to my License Key later?

Yes, you can add more employees at anytime, just login to your "My Account (Client Login" from our home page and click the "Add Employees" link on your Account Information screen.

Do I have to sign an extended contract if I decide Cloud Service is the best choice for my business?

No. Cloud Service is a month-to-month arrangement. You may cancel at any time. We'll work hard to earn and maintain your trust.

If I miss a payment on the Cloud Service, will you kick me off your server?

Your monthly Cloud Service fee will be automatically charged to your credit card each month. If for any reason, the charge can't be processed, we'll contact you.

Can I customize TimeClockpro for my business?

Several features help TimeClockpro fit your business. For example, you can: 1. Determine which day of the week your payroll periods begin. 2. Select the color theme of the TimeClockpro screens 3. Insert your Business Logo for display on TimeClockpro screens 4. Choose "Auto Lunch Deduct" if you don't require your employees to clock out before lunch and clock back in after lunch. You can have TimeClockpro automatically subtract 30 or 60 minutes from their time. 5. Allow TimeClockpro to round clock-in and clock-out times to the nearest 15 minutes.

I see the day and date displayed on the Time Clock screen, is it possible to check the current TimeClockpro system time too?

Yes. Just click the black bar at the bottom of the Time Clock screen and the current system time will be displayed momentarily.

Can I export time clock information from TimeClockpro?

Yes. When printing timecards, just select "Create Export File" option. TimeClockpro will create export file in the format of our choice including, Tab-Separated Text, Comma-Separated Values, Merge, HTML Table, XML, Excel Workbook or as a FileMaker Pro data file.

Why would I want to export time clock information from TimeClockpro?

You could use the data for further evaluation, email it to your accountants or you may be able to import it into your payroll accounting system.

No. TimeClockpro does not currently have a direct interface with QuickBooks, though we are considering adding that functionality in the future.

Are employees able to change or modify their time clock entries?

No. Only an employee's authorized Timekeeper or the individual(s) with the Admin Password can change time clock entries within TimeClockpro.

Can a fellow employee clock me in, or clock me out for lunch, end of shift?

Each employee is assigned a PIN (Personal Identification Number). Employees should be instructed to keep it confidential. Employers should consider establishing a policy regarding an employee's use of their PIN.

Can I use biometric (finger print) readers with TimeClockpro?

No. While biometric readers provide another means of preventing employee misbehavior, they add cost and complexity to setting up, using and maintaining your time keeping system.

Where does TimeClockpro get the time and date for time clock entries?

The Network Edition and the Cloud Service, retrieve the time and date from the workstation or server on which TimeClockpro is being hosted. The Kiosk Edition gets the time from the workstation on which is it open, enabling it to be used on a computer not connected to a network or the Internet.

If the Kiosk Edition uses the time and date from the computer on which it is open, could employees manipulate their clock in and clock out times by changing the computer's clock?

While time clock entries are secure within TimeClockpro from being modified by employees, we recommend you restrict access to the computer's Date & Time Control panel to ensure employees can't manipulate their clock in or clock out times by changing the computer's clock prior to clocking in or clocking out. The User's Guide provides step-by-step instructions on how to restrict access to the computer's clock for both Windows and Mac operating systems. We encourage all businesses to establish a policy stating that an employee falsifying their work time records is grounds for dismissal.

What kind of support is available and how do I access it?

Begin by trying to find an answer to your question in the Knowledgebase.  Often it will provide an immediate answer to your question.

To provide the highest quality, most cost effective, timely and personal responses to our customers, technical support always begins with clients submitting their question via our Knowledgebase "Ask a Question" tab.  If we are not able to resolve the question or issue via email, we will call and speak with you personally.  We are often able to respond within minutes to a submitted question, usually within an hour or two and always within 1 business day.

When you purchase a License Key or Cloud Service, a client account with user name and password is established on our website for you.  When you click the "Ask a Question" tab in the Knowledgebase, you'll be asked to enter your user name and password. You can do so free for 30 days after your purchase or for an entire year if/when you purchase the Technical Support Plan.  (Cloud Service includes free on-going technical support.)

Can TimeClockpro handle payroll periods that run over multiple weeks?

No problem. TimeClockpro gives weekly sub-totals over multiple week payroll periods as well as grand totals for the entire period. When you print timecards, just enter the date range (first day and last day of the payroll period).

Is there a way to make the TimeClockpro screen larger?

Yes. Clicking the TimeClockpro logo on the bottom left of the Time Clock screen toggles the size of the TimeClockpro screens between normal size and 150% of normal size.

Does the Kiosk version need Internet access to function?

The Kiosk version does not need interent service to function, however you do need internet service to download the TimeClockpro software.  You can download the installer file to an Internet connected computer, then copy the installer file to a flash drive and from the flash drive, run the installer on the computer not connected to the Internet.
